There were many different kinds ("species") of dinosaurs, which varied in size from about the size of a chicken to over 100 feet long.
Today we know about dinosaurs mainly because of the fossil remains: of dinosaur bones, dinosaur eggs, dinosaur droppings, and even dinosaur footprints. Nobody knows for sure what a dinosaur sounded like, or even what color they were. Dinosaurs may live on today! Some dinosaurs were very bird-like, and it is likely that they may have been ancestors of today's birds.
